1000BASE is a term used for applications and transceivers that deliver 1000Mbps of data connectivity. This 1000BASE term is mostly popularized as 1000BASE-X standard which is actually a group of standards specified within IEEE 802.3z norms. 1000BASE has various variants such as 1000BASE-T, LX, SX, BX, EX and ZX etc. and are used for connecting Gigabit Ethernet ports and switches to copper and optical finer networks. 1000BASE standard of T type and SX type are meant for shorter distances of 300m and 550m respectively and deliver connectivity across copper and multi-mode fiber networks. All other 1000BASE standard types are designed to deliver long range connectivity ranging from a few kms to as far as 120km over single mode fibers. Cozlink transceivers comply with 1000BASE-X standards and provide industry approved replacements for all other MSA compliant brands such as Juniper, Finisar, Brocade, Prolabs, Hirschmann etc.
