Cisco SFP 10G SR – Space-efficient module for speedier networks

The Cisco 10G SR is a compact, in fact, the smallest 10G form factor, not weighing more than 75g that offers customers a multitude of 10GbE connectivity options. This transceiver module finds its best utility in Enterprise and Data Center applications and is designed to meet the functional requirements of these areas. It is easy to achieve the most common reaches using Cisco SFP 10G SR transceiver as it can be done by changing the cable core size only. For Example, The Cisco 10G SR module supports a link length of 26 meters on standard Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI)-grade multimode fiber (MMF). If the user chooses MMF (OM3),  the reach can be extended to up to 300m and with 4700 MHz*km MMF (OM4), the data reach can be extended up to 400m of length. The Dual LC/PC connector in Cisco SFP 10G SR makes it usable across a wide range of commonly used applications that are provided with this connector interface.

To start with, it is the smallest 10G form factor available that is designed to complement 10GBASE Ethernet cabling standard. It is a hot-swappable I/O device that can be plugged into Ethernet SFP+ ports. This transceiver is smart in functioning because of the digital optical monitoring feature embedded in it. It can operate at commercial temperature range of (0 to 70°C) only. At core size of 50 microns, data connectivity reaches up to 66m, 82m, 300m and 400m. The most interesting aspect of this form factor is that it can be used to make connections as small as 2m according to the guidelines mentioned in IEEE standards The Cisco SFP 10G SR module features -7.3 (Min) to -1.2(Max) of Transmit Power and -9.9 (Min) to -1.0 (Max) of Receive Power. Not only specifically at 850nm, this transceiver works best at the range of 840 to 860 of Transmit and Receive wavelength. This transceiver scores outstanding in power efficiency as it requires only 1W of power for smooth functioning. The operational temperature range of Cisco SFP 10G SR is 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F) and it can be stored at temperature ranging from  -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F).
